Liqoria - The Story about Liqoria

The Story Behind Liqoria
In November 2021, I decided to bring my Cydia tweak Playtopia to the Mac. At that time, I didn’t yet have the time, knowledge, or experience to fully bring my vision to life. So I put the project aside, promising myself that one day when life became less busy and I had learned more about development I would return to it.
While Playtopia sat in the drawer, I began learning music production using Logic Pro and Reaper. During that time, I had the opportunity to meet well-known producers and dive deep into the art of production, mixing, and sound design. Working closely with music on a daily basis made me more aware of how important a good listening environment really is.
Life then took some unexpected turns, and everything seemed to pause. That moment pushed me to return to my roots and start learning development again this time with a clear goal: to finally bring Playtopia to the Mac in the right way.
Before reviving Playtopia, I decided to start with something smaller. I brought back my old tweak NotchBanner, which showed Dynamic Island–style notifications long before Apple officially introduced the Dynamic Island. When Apple later revealed their own implementation, I felt inspired to build a more advanced experience tailored specifically for larger screens. That idea eventually became DynamicLake.
DynamicLake turned out to be a success and continues to evolve and improve to this day (with many new features coming soon). Building it taught me a great deal not only about macOS development, but also about design, performance, and creating experiences that feel truly native.
That experience made me realize it was finally time to return to Playtopia this time with a fresh perspective and a much stronger foundation.
I felt the project needed a new identity, so I renamed it Oria and started completely from scratch. Then, in June 2025, Apple introduced Liquid Glass, a stunning new visual design language. Inspired by that announcement, I decided to merge “Liq” with “Oria,” embracing the Liquid Glass aesthetic throughout the entire app. That’s how Liqoria was born.
Liqoria was designed from the ground up as a modern macOS music experience one that brings Apple Music and Spotify and more apps together into a single, elegant interface. Instead of switching between apps or relying on basic mini-players, Liqoria places your music front and center, with visuals and interactions that feel alive on your screen.
Soon, you’ll see how Liqoria and DynamicLake come together connecting music, visuals, and system-level experiences to create something truly special on macOS.
